BYU football has lost a key member of its staff one day after National Signing Day.
Geoff Martzen, the Cougars’ director of player personnel and their on-campus recruiting coordinator, announced via Twitter Thursday night he is leaving for Colorado State.
Loved everything and everyone at BYU. Excited for the opportunity Coach Bobo has given me at Colorado State. Signed! pic.twitter.com/sfskILb0qI— Geoff Martzen (@geoffmartzen) February 6, 2015
According to his Twitter profile, which already includes a picture of a Rams helmet, he will be the director of player personnel at Colorado State.
First-year Rams coach Mike Bobo also confirmed the move via Twitter.
Martzen joined BYU in April 2013 and had previously worked with Nick Saban in Alabama, as well as at Boise State.
He joins Bobo, who took over at Colorado State in late December after spending the past 14 years at Georgia, including the last eight as the Bulldogs' offensive coordinator. Bobo replaced Jim McElwain, who left to take over as head coach at Florida.
