WEST VALLEY CITY — A 67-year-old man was killed in a two-car crash early Monday.

Michael Nielsen, of West Valley City, pulled his Jeep Cherokee out of 4640 West onto 3500 South at 5:45 a.m., when his driver's side door was hit by a pickup truck, said West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku. It was unknown Monday which direction Nielsen intended to turn.

The 54-year-old driver of the pickup was taken to a local hospital in serious condition with broken ribs and a broken leg, Vainuku said. The cause of the crash remained under investigation Monday.
