DEVELOPMENT STAGE

At 6 feet 7, 410 pounds, Motekiai Langi is BYU’s most intriguing 2015 football signee.

Especially since he doesn’t, you know, play football.

Still, don’t undersell BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall. Last time he suited up a football neophyte, it turned out to be Ziggy Ansah, now of the Detroit Lions.

Mendenhall likes to say he recruits a certain type of player. He sure does — some of whom don’t know a football from a footnote.

That’s not necessarily a problem.

Long live BYU football, home to the NCAA’s “developmental league.”
