SALT LAKE CITY — Beginning Monday, the 1300 South bridge from 500 West to 700 West will be closed for six months due to construction.
Salt Lake City and the Utah Department of Transportation are partnering to make upgrades to the bridge to meet safety and seismic requirements, and to improve the flow of traffic, transit vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
Changes include widening the bridge by 3 feet and adding an extra lane for bicyclists and pedestrians. The $6.8 million construction cost is federally funded with a Salt Lake City match.
The bridge deck will be completely removed and rebuilt, using existing supports where possible. For detour and additional project information, visit www.slcgov.com/engineering/1300-south-viaduct, call 385-210-0585 or email at 1300south@utah.gov.
