The Utah Valley University men's golf team sits in eighth place on the 16-team leaderboard after two rounds of play at the Bandon Dunes Championship at the Bandon Dunes Resort in Oregon.
The Wolverines shot an 8-over-par 296 on Saturday for a two-round total of 9-over-par 585. Utah Valley is 10 strokes behind leader Duke, which holds a two-round total of 575 (-1).
"Conditions were very tough today," Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran said. "The toughest conditions we've seen all year. It was a long day. We had a 2 1/2 hour rain delay. We started to make a run up the leaderboard but had a few guys fall apart late in their rounds. Mike (Dart) and Blair (Bursey) had great rounds today. They both battled extremely hard."
Senior Michael Dart led the Wolverines in the second round with a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday. Dart sits in a tie for 13th place with a two-round total of even par 144 (73-71). Dart moved up 21 spots in the individual standings after carding his 1-under-par 71 in round two. He recorded five birdies, including three on the back nine on Saturday.
Freshman Blair Bursey moved up 15 spots on the individual leaderboard after carding an even par 72 in round two. Bursey is in a tie for 19th with a two-round score of 1-over-par 145 (73-72). Bursey recorded two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 third hole during his second round.
JT Timmons carded a 3-over-par 75 in round two for a two-day total of 5-over-par 149 (74-75). The senior sits in a tie for the 41st spot. Senior Brayden Eriksen, who was in a tie for fourth after his first-round score of 3-under-par 69, shot a 9-over-par 81 on Saturday and now is tied in 50th with a two-round score of 6-over-par 150 (69-81). Preston Richards carded a 6-over-par 78 in round two and now sits in a tie in 76th with a two-round score of 156 (78-78).
Utah Valley plays the third and final round of the tournament Sunday. Live scoring will be available on UVU's website, with links to GolfStat.
