The Ontario Reign (34-17-4-5) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (30-24-5-3), 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
In a game where the Grizzlies controlled the first 40 minutes, they were never able to beat Ontario goaltender Jussi Olkinuora who stopped all 25 shots he saw as the Grizzlies got shut out for the first time in 62 games this season.
Ontario scored one early in the first, one late in the first and two in the second half of the second period before adding a power-play goal in the third period.
Utah outshot Ontario,15-9, in the first period and 23-19 through 40 minutes.
Eric Levine played the third period, in relief of Igor Bobkov, and stopped nine of 10 shots faced.
Utah finishes the season 5-5-0-1 against Ontario and finishes .500 or better against it for the fifth time in seven seasons.
The Grizzlies maintain a three-point lead on Alaska for fourth place in the Pacific Division.
