CARSON, Calif. — In the Real Monarchs' first game, they held on for a scoreless draw against L.A. Galaxy II.
The Monarchs were on the defense for most of the game, but held on for a point at the Track and Field Stadium at the StubHub Center.
Real Salt Lake's No. 2 goalkeeper Lalo Fernandez, one of seven players RSL loaned out to the Real Monarchs SLC, made several key saves — including a big stop in the 28th minute against striker Adonis Amaya. This is the L.A. Galaxy II's second season in the USL. The team finished third in its inaugural season.
The Monarchs will play one more road match at the Portland Timbers 2 before making the club’s home debut on April 8 at Rio Tinto Stadium.
