WEST HAVEN, Weber County — A former teacher's aide has been sentenced to jail for sexting with a 14-year-old student.
Zachary Arrington, 21, was sentenced Tuesday in Ogden to six months in jail, the Standard-Examiner reports. He can begin work release after 20 days.
Arrington said in a statement he's sorry for having the inappropriate relationship with the teen and that he was in a dark place in his life when it happened.
The charter school where he worked, Quest Academy in West Haven, fired him in October after the accusations came out.
As part of a plea deal, Arrington pleaded guilty to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted dealing of harmful materials and obstruction of justice.
Online court records show Arrington was going through a divorce prior to the incident.
