SOUTH JORDAN — A Murray man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on Redwood Road.
The man, 21, was riding south on Redwood Road just before 9 a.m. Monday when a woman leaving a parking lot near 10400 South pulled out in front of him, South Jordan police officer Sam Winkler said.
The bullet bike collided with the car, and the motorcyclist died, Winkler said. The victim was wearing a helmet.
"The crash was just so severe," Winkler said.
The man's name was not immediately released.
The 43-year-old woman was taken to Intermountain Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Investigators reviewing the scene were determining whether any citations will be issued, Winkler said. Southbound Redwood Road was closed at 10400 South as investigators worked Monday. It was expected to open shortly after 12:30 p.m.
With the onset of warm weather, Winkler urged drivers to be especially vigilant.
"With warm weather, we always encourage motorists to stop and take an extra second to look for motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, anybody using the street who they're not used to normally using the street," he said. "It's an unfortunate reminder to everyone out there."
