Fifty-one contestants from across the state took to the Capitol Theatre stage Wednesday for the first of four nights of competition, each vying for a shot at winning the title of Miss Utah 2015.

Miss Nebo Krissia Beatty won a swimsuit preliminary award, while Miss Salem Tessa Fitzgerald won a talent preliminary award.

The Miss Riverton organization was also recognized as the local pageant that raised the most money for the Children's Miracle Network, which has been the Miss America Organization's national platform since 2007.

The Miss Utah 2015 competition will continue Thursday at Capitol Theatre, with another night of preliminary events in the areas of swimsuit, evening wear, onstage question and talent.
