HELPER, Carbon County — A man and woman are both being investigated after police say a case of domestic violence led to a shooting Tuesday night.

Officers were called to a home at 60 B St. about 10:30 p.m. and found a 25-year-old man bleeding heavily, Helper Police Chief Trent Anderson said in a prepared statement.

The man, Colby Migliori, of Helper, was taken to Castleview Hospital in Price and was in stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg, Anderson said.

Police say a woman who was in the home, Shalese Manzanares, of Price, shot Migliori after he assaulted someone at the home. Police didn't specify Wednesday whether they believe Migliori assaulted Manzanares or another person at the residence.

One other woman and "several small children" were in the home at the time, Anderson said.

Manzanares allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle and took with her all of the children who were present. She was arrested late Wednesday night at a home in Price.

Manzanares was also taken to Castleview Hospital and later booked into the Carbon County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault, carrying a weapon while under the influence, intoxication, and reckless endangerment.

Migliori is being investigated for a domestic assault "that occurred before the shooting," Anderson said.

According to court records, Migliori was charged in 2011 with domestic violence in the presence of a child and disorderly conduct, both class B misdemeanors, but the charges were dropped a year later.

In January, Manzanares was charged with three counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, all class B misdemeanors, court records state. She was also charged with class B misdemeanor assault; and intoxication, a class C misdemeanor, in the same case, which is ongoing.

Manzanares pleaded guilty to DUI, a class B misdemeanor, in 2009.
