Public opinion

Envision Utah seeks input from the public regarding proposed direction(s) for Utah’s future via a sophisticated online survey. I notice only one question concerns the proposed relocation of the state prison. Few, if any, letters in both daily papers are enthusiastic about the proposed prison relocation. If input is so heavily sought for scripted scenarios for our 2050 Utah, why is the Legislature so doggedly avoiding and ignoring what appears almost unanimous opposition to prison relocation?

Much of Envision Utah’s predictions are well-intentioned, “pie in the sky” estimates. The future development of the Draper ex-prison site is more so; however, the citizens are left with the exorbitant costs of this fiasco.
