ROY — A Roy man with Alzheimer's disease who had been missing for more than 24 hours before he was found unconscious has died as a result of exposure, police said.

John Thurgood, 82, was last seen at his Roy home about 1 p.m. Sunday. He was found unconscious Monday evening in Snowville, Box Elder County, by two Union Pacific workers. Roy police confirmed Tuesday that Thurgood had died.

Thurgood had a history of wandering away from home. On one occasion, he was found in Nevada without water or food and could not remember how he got there, according to police.

Investigators said they did not suspect foul play in Thurgood's death.
