The big illusion in a recent article (“The scarcity mindset,” June 7) is that Lane Anderson seems to think that poverty = scarcity. In the environment that I work in, those that do not have health insurance in our country receive all their medications free. All those who do not already have food stamps, which is free food, receive free food from various locations, including the Utah Food Bank, where I volunteer on a regular basis. Those who do not already have their housing paid for have many places to turn to for temporary housing. Poverty in America does not equal scarcity.
