ROY — Two businesses were destroyed in a two-alarm fire early Tuesday in Roy.

Firefighters were called to the Oriental Market, 1788 W. 5300 South, about 4:30 a.m. They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.

Once it was determined that no one was inside, Roy Fire Capt. Chase Stark said crews went into a defensive mode.

"The wind was probably our biggest challenge and the amount of fuel that was inside the building," he said.

Fire crews from Weber County, Clinton, Riverdale and Ogden assisted in extinguishing the blaze.

Stark said the building, which included the market and a haircut business, were a total loss.

A cause was still being investigated Tuesday.
