SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday after police say he slammed into the back of another vehicle.

About 3:15 a.m., a 28-year-old man was driving a motorcycle along 700 East when he approached the I-80 underpass near 2400 South. A car in front of him slowed for a red light and the motorcycle hit the rear of the vehicle, according to Salt Lake police.

The man, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered a severe head injury. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The man's name was not immediately available Thursday.
