"Granite Flats" will not return for a fourth season, according to an announcement made by BYUtv Thursday.

Scott Swofford, executive producer of "Granite Flats" and director of content for BYUtv, posted a message to the BYUtv.org blog announcing the decision to cancel the show and thanking fans for their support.

"We look forward to what is on the horizon in the form of additional scripted content at BYUtv and have chosen to concentrate resources on these ideas and forego producing a fourth season of 'Granite Flats,'" Swofford wrote.

"Granite Flats" received media attention in May when all seasons of the show were added to Netflix, including season three, which does not air on BYUtv until October. According to Business Insider, it became "the first show that’s currently on the air on another network to debut a new season on Netflix."

The Cold War-era drama first aired in April 2013. The show is filmed entirely in Utah and received national attention as the first scripted drama on BYUtv.

"It’s been lauded by the industry as curiously compelling and enthusiastically embraced by fans and viewers as refreshingly clean and charming," Swofford wrote.

In addition to streaming on Netflix, "Granite Flats" is available on BYUtv’s digital platforms on Roku, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, Xbox 360, and BYUtv.org.
