Outdoor advertising

I certainly agree with Mike Simmons (“Another pollution,” May 27) on the proliferation of billboards in our state. This is visual pollution and, as with any other kind of pollution, it must be dealt with. It is not right that a company can control what we are able to see along our highways and in our cities. I will not patronize a hotel or restaurant nor will I buy products of companies that have advertising on billboards. As suggested in Simmons’ letter, our state Legislature must gain some control over outdoor advertising.
