A former Utah high school and Snow College basketball star who played in the NBA was found dead Monday.

The Des Moines Register reported that Jackson Vroman, 34, was found dead in a pool Monday morning at his home in Los Angeles, according to the L.A. County coroners office.

Vroman is the son of professional basketball player Brett Vroman, who played for the Utah Jazz in 1980-81. Jackson Vroman had become a Lebanese citizen. Initial reports indicated that Vroman had been killed in a car crash after the Lebanese National Team posted Monday on Twitter: "We sadly announce the death of former Lebanese national team player Jackson Vroman in a tragic car accident."

Vroman, a native of Bountiful, signed with Iowa State in 2002 after an All-American junior college career at Snow College.

The 6-foot-10, 220-pound Vroman earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors and the Big 12 All-Newcomer team as a junior and second-team all-conference accolades.

Vromans career 9.5 rpg average ranks ninth all-time in school history and his 55.8 percent clip from the field ranks third.

Following graduation, Vroman was the 31st pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. He played two seasons with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Hornets. He continued to play professionally overseas until 2014.

The Suns also made a statement Monday: "We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Jackson Vroman. Our thoughts are with his family during this time."
