DRAPER — Kids of all ages raced around a dirt track spinning tricks on their bikes on Saturday as officials opened the state's biggest cycling park.
The Draper Cycle Park, located near the Andy Ballard Equestrian Center, 1455 E. Highland Drive in Draper, features a muti-use trailhead for miles of terrain and a mountain bike skills pocket park, as well as a dirt play area for younger riders. Future development will include a climbing wall, a velodrome, and cyclocross and criterium courses, among other things.
Draper City donated the land and a donors have contributed to the remaining $3.5 million in costs. The park has ideal biking conditions, providing a 4,500-foot elevation for sport competitions.
