One of Utah's top high school football talents, Brighton's Drew Jensen, has made a decision on where he will play at the next level.

On Friday, the Bengal defensive back announced via Twitter he will stay in-state and play at BYU.

“I would first like to start off by thanking all of the coaches for recruiting me up to this point, and my family and friends for always supporting me,” Jensen shared on Twitter. “But I have decided to take the next step and commit myself to Brigham Young University!! Go Cougars!!”

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Jensen is a three-star recruit and is rated the 13th-best prospect from the state of Utah by Rivals and the No. 20 safety prospect in the West by Scout.

Before suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 2, Jensen had eight tackles for the Bengals last season. During his time at Brighton, he has also played quarterback and running back and had 66 rushing yards and 61 receiving yards with a touchdown in 2014. Jensen ran back a kickoff 75 yards for the game-winning touchdown in the Bengals’ season-opening victory over American Fork last year.

Jensen has been surrounded by top-end talent at Brighton. Linebacker Osa Masina signed a Letter of Intent with USC in February and will play for the Trojans this fall. Two of the state’s other top prospects, wide receiver Simi Fehoko and running back/linebacker Sione Heimuli-Lund, also play for Brighton. Fehoko recently tweeted he will announce on July 19 where he will play college ball.
