MOAB — The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposed project at a San Juan County mine. Lisbon Valley Mining Co. plans to backfill the Centennial Pit at its Lisbon Valley Mine. The BLM has released an environmental assessment related to the project, available at blm.gov.

The proposed project would use mined materials to backfill portions of the open pit. It would also reduce truck traffic, emissions, and dust, according to the assessment.

Comments can be made up until Aug. 31. Hard copies of the assessment are also available at the BLM Moab Field Office, 82 E. Dogwood Ave., Moab, UT 84532.
