CEDAR CITY — A man and woman survived unscathed after a man got into their car demanding money and later fired a shot at their vehicle in a Wal-Mart parking lot Thursday.
The two were sitting in their parked vehicle at the store, 1330 S. Providence Center Drive, when a man got into the back seat around 6:20 p.m., said Cedar City Police Sgt. Jimmy Roden.
The man immediately displayed a handgun and demanded money, Roden said.
One of the victims reportedly got out of the vehicle and made an emergency call while the gunman was still in the car. The gunman then fled the vehicle and he and another man got into another car, Roden said.
Both victims were back inside their vehicle when the two men drove by, the sergeant said, and fired "at least one shot" at the couple, hitting the car. Neither of the victims were hurt.
The men were driving a small sedan, either gray or silver in color, Roden said.
The victims told detectives they didn't know either of the men. Police were interviewing other witnesses Thursday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Cedar City police at 435-586-2956.
