LONDON — U.S. stocks are opening flat amid ongoing worries about the health of the global economy. A report shows that growth in Europe remains lackluster.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 10 points, or 0.1 percent, to 17,422 as of 9:37 a.m. Eastern time Friday. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose one point to 2,085.

The Nasdaq composite was unchanged at 5,033.

Nordstrom climbed after the department store chain reported earnings that were better than Wall Street analysts expected.

The price of oil edged up from its lowest level in more than six years.
