WOODLAND HILLS — Residents of at least five houses were evacuated Thursday night following a mudslide in Woodland Hills.

Nobody was injured but at least one home was damaged, said Utah County Sheriff's Lt. Erik Knutzen. Police also closed Skylake Drive due to the mudslide.

Deputies halted further evacuations until they could determine if there would be more precipitation, according to Knutzen. Significant precipitation, possibly snow or hail from nearby Loafer Mountain, caused the mudslide, he said.

Woodland Hills residents were alerted to the mudslide through a city watch notification system, he said.

Emergency responders were trying to stabilize the mud with sandbags and were asking people to stay away from the area.

Search and rescue teams and the Red Cross were also responding to offer assistance.
