After attending a great Outdoor Retailers show this last weekend, I felt I had to write and express my embarrassment for the city of Salt Lake and apologize to the visitors from out of town because of what the mayor and Salt Lake City Council have allowed to happen to the streets of this great city.

Derelict camps were set up all over Main Street and West Temple. Beggars and drunks were everywhere. This went on for all three days, non-stop. The northwest corner of 100 South and Main Street looked like a homeless encampment for those three days.

You can’t blame the police, just their leaders. Many conference-goers were very upset. Guests to our city should not have to step over drunks and people sleeping on the sidewalks. At one corner, I took a photo of 10 Smith’s shopping carts in caravan all being pushed by homeless people with their belongings.

Something must be done to clean up the streets of this beautiful city. We will end up losing conventions if this type of activity continues.
