HONOLULU — The students assigned to the University of Hawaii apartment where a man fell out of a window to his death while trying to get a distraught man off a 14th floor ledge will have the option to get new housing arrangements.
University spokesman Dan Meisenzahl (MY'-sen-zall) says the four students assigned to share the 2-bedroom apartment have been notified about Sunday's incident. He says if they don't want to live there, the top floor unit will remain unoccupied for now.
Students assigned to the Hale (HAH'-lay) Wainani (why-nah-nee) buildings are expected to move in on Friday.
Meisenzahl says incident is prompting the university to consider possibly doing planned window renovations sooner.
Neither the 24-year-old who died nor the 19-year-old he was apparently trying to help were students. The 19-year-old remains in critical condition.
