SALT LAKE CITY — Midway through the seventh inning of Monday’s game between Salt Lake and Omaha, fans started scurrying for the exits. While the Bees were trailing 10-3, the reason for the fans' exit was a giant infestation of mayflies that caught the attention of every one of the 7,927 fans at Smith’s Ballpark.

Who knows if it was the mayflies, but suddenly the Bees' bats came to life. Salt Lake ripped off four runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to tie the game at 10-10.

Having rallied from seven down, the Bees took it one step further in dramatic fashion when shortstop Grant Green drilled a two-out, ninth-inning solo shot that completed the comeback and gave the Bees an improbable 11-10 victory.

Fans attending Monday’s game between the Bees and Storm Chasers were treated to a hit fest as the two teams combined for 21 runs and 33 hits.

After striking out Omaha’s leadoff hitter, Bees starter Tyler DeLoach gave up a solo homer to Ray Fuentes. DeLoach gave up five first-inning hits as Omaha led 3-0 right out of the gate.

The Bees got one back in the top of the first when Kaleb Cowart’s single to right scored Kyle Kubitza.

Omaha struck again in the third to tack on a fourth run. After DeLoach was called for a balk, Cheslor Cuthbert advanced to second and then scored on a single from Brett Eibner.

The Storm Chasers extended that lead to 5-1 in the fourth on the strength of a solo homer from shortstop Orlando Calixte.

Omaha scored again in the fifth, this time by Jose Martinez's solo shot that cleared the sidewalk in left and nearly reached the street east of Smith’s Ballpark.

The Bees pushed two runs across in the top of the fifth as Gary Brown led off with a sharp single that was bobbled by Omaha’s right fielder. Brown kept on motoring around second and safely into third base. Green’s single drove in Brown before Alex Yarbrough was driven in by Efren Navarro as the Bees trailed 6-3.

Omaha added three more in the 6th, and another in the 7th to open up a 10-3 advantage.

But the Bees finally got the offense untracked in the seventh, scoring four runs. The big blow was Roger Kieshnick’s single that drove in Kubitza and Navarro. Alfredo Marte’s single scored Cowart as the Bees rallied to trail 10-7.

Salt Lake kept the bats going in the eighth and tied the game at 10-10 after Alex Yarbrough scored and Jeff Bandy drove in Kubitza and Navarro with a booming double to left center.

Game got over at 10:30
