"Today" show co-host Kathie Lee Gifford paid a touching tribute to her late husband, Frank Gifford, on the show Monday and talked about how faith has brought hope and peace into their lives.

The 84-year-old football legend, former New York Giants player and sports broadcaster died Aug. 9 of natural causes.

During her first appearance on the show since her husband's death, Kathie Lee Gifford spoke about a trip the couple made to Israel and said Frank took a stone home to represent the stone David used to defeat Goliath. When guests would visit their house, Frank would show them the stone, instead of his many trophies, and talk about the story of David and Goliath. She encouraged viewers of the show to follow David's example and find a way to have a positive impact on the world.

She said that Christianity was central to her husband's life and encouraged others seeking solace to turn to faith.
