ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Officials say a search resumed at first light Friday for the body of a third man believed to be buried beneath a massive field of logs and muck left by a landslide in a southeast Alaska coastal town.
Two bodies have been found since the debris crashed into a residential construction site in Sitka on Tuesday. Officials have not released the names of the people found dead.
Responders say the search for the remaining body has been slow and methodical because the debris is unstable and wet. Six landslides and a sinkhole were reported after 2 1/2 inches of rain fell in a 24-hour period.
