The Frankfurt Germany Temple will close for extensive renovations on Sept. 7, 2015, the Mormon Newsroom announced Thursday.

The temple, which was dedicated on Aug. 28, 1987, is expected to reopen in July 2017. It serves members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany, Luxembourg, northern France and Slovenia, according to the Mormon Newsroom.

There are 147 operating LDS temples around the world, with more than 30 in different stages of completion. Earlier this month, it was announced that the Jordan River Temple will also undergo renovations beginning Feb. 15, with plans to reopen in 2017.
