William Cosgrove makes it clear: we can end the unnecessary deaths of mothers and children in our world (“New bill could prevent newborn tragedies,” Aug. 18). The Reach Every Mother and Child Act of 2015 will help make this possible. No new money in this act, but plenty of lives will be saved with it. Who can be against our developmental assistance agency, USAID, being more efficient and transparent? Who is against saving the lives of mothers and children?

Our calls and letters will remind lawmakers of the importance of voting for this bill. Thanks to Mr. Cosgrove for writing about this and Sens. Susan Collins and Chris Coons for introducing the act. Now comes our turn: write and call our senators and representatives to make sure it passes!
