The Utah Valley University volleyball team held its annual intrasquad scrimmage on Tuesday evening in the PE Building and the green team defeated the black team three sets to none (25-16, 25-23, 25-23).
Sophomore outside hitter Lexi Thompson led the black team with 14 kills, while junior outside hitter Kiahna Steiner paced the green team with 12. Sophomore Sierra Starley recorded a match-high 33 assists while junior Kelcee Munk added 32 assists. Senior middle blocker and WAC Preseason Player of the Year Lauren Bakker put up a nine-kill performance, a .444 attack percentage and three blocks. Senior Jaramey Barney led the way at the net with five blocks. Freshmen Brooklynn Bodily and Sabrina Tanner each notched 12 digs on the night.
"It's always fun to play in front of a crowd. They have been beating up on each other for two weeks so it was a good chance to compete against each other and in front of fans," head coach Sam Atoa said. "It was a fun night. We have some things we need to work on, but we saw a lot of good things to put into play."
