SOUTH SALT LAKE — A St. George man who police say kidnapped a woman for three days in a South Salt Lake motel and threatened to kill her was booked into jail Monday.
A $250,000 arrest warrant was issued on July 29 for Luis Felipe Munoz, 24, charging him with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, kidnapping, a second-degree felony, and assault, a class B misdemeanor.
On July 20, a woman told police she and Munoz rented a room at the Inn Town Suites, 3260 S. West Temple.
"For the next three days the defendant refused to allow (the woman) to leave the room, throwing her to the floor and holding her down," charging documents state.
On July 23, the woman ran from the room while Munoz was taking a shower. She said she called Munoz from a nearby gas station and told him to drop off her possessions that she left behind.
When Munoz arrived, he threw a bag containing her property to the ground and then sprinted toward her, police said. Munoz grabbed her by the hair, then punched her in the stomach and "dragged her behind his truck," according to the charges.
Munoz threatened the woman, saying, "I'm gonna torture you and you'll wish you were dead. If I'm gonna get a charge, I'll make it worth my while," charging documents state.
When a bystander tried to intervene, Munoz punched the bystander, according to police.
Munoz's next court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.
