Although there was a last-minute change in locations from Mountain View Golf Course to Pebblebrook Golf Course and the fact there was an increase in humidity along with on and off rain, there was still some great results from the third regional golf tournament for the Region 8 boys teams.
It was Timpview's Josh Lillywhite who shot the tournament's lowest round, coming in with a 64. When asked about the day's round Lillywhite said, "The last-minute change in courses made it for an interesting tournament, as I have never played this course before. It is a narrow course and I found out early that I had to focus on one shot at a time.
"I felt good today," he added. "I hit a lot of placement shots and was helped by a number of important saves. I really enjoy playing with Rhett (Rasmussen) and Brock (Stanger), as they help to elevate my own game."
Along with Josh Lillywhite, it was his two brothers, John Lillywhite with a 66 and Spencer Lillywhite with a 69, along with Zak Osmond with a 77, that helped to secure the team victory for Timpview. "As a team, we only have three returning players, so we are still trying to figure out the team. Our focus is on state, so we are working to improve each day," Josh Lillywhite. "It is good to see individuals stepping up to help our team be successful."
Corner Canyon came in second, led by Rhett Rasmussen's 65. He was supported by teammates Dylan Bloechel, with a 69, Ethan Lefavor, with a 73, and Cale Hammond, with a 74. As a team, they shot a 281.
It was Orem that came in third place, with a team total of 285, led by Brock Stanger's 69. He had help from Josh Parker, who shot a 70, and Matt Rasmussen and Koy Hewlett, who both ended with 73s.
Alta took the fourth spot, led by Tyler Affleck's 75. Providing the additional scores were Connor Joos shooting a 78, and Easton Egan and McKay DowDell, both with 79s, for a team total of 311.
The Timpanogos Timberwolves came in fifth with a team total of 316, led by a 74 from Spencer Yeates and a 76 from Andrew Gomez. Teammates Ben Lewis' 82 and Hunter Saunders' 84 combined for their team total.
