After the fourth Region 7 boys golf tournament held at Sleep Ridge Golf Course, the race for No. 1 is still a very tight one. However, after their win, the Timpview Thunderbirds are holding the top spot.
Golf may be looked at as an individual sport, but by looking at the final scores after 18 holes, Timpview showed just how important it is to be part of a team. Leading the Thunderbirds was Spencer Lillywhite with a 70, followed by Josh Lillywhite, John Lillywhite and Matt Garry all coming in with 74s for a team total of 292.
The Orem Tigers edged out Corner Canyon for the second spot, led by a 72 from Josh Parker. Teammates Matt Rasmussen's 74, Brock Stanger's 75 and Landon Lawrence's 77 helped secure a team total of 298.
Rhett Rassmusen not only led Corner Canyon's team but was the day's best individual, finishing with a 65. He was helped by teammates Dylan Blochel's 74, Ethan Lefavor's 79 and Logan Palmer's 83 for a team total of 301.
In fourth place were the Alta Hawks led by Tyler Affleck's 83. Teammates Kayleb Barton and McKay DowDell shot 89 and Easton Egan finished with a 90 for a team total of 351.
The Timpanogos Timberwolves took the fifth spot with a combined team total of 357 led by Spencer Yeates' 76. He was followed by teammates Hunter Saunders' 88 and Andrew Lopez's 96.
The Provo Bulldogs came in sixth with a team total of 359. They were led by Max Hoopes who shot an 80 with support provided by teammates Dylan Little, Cam Watson and Lito Martinez.
Mountain View came in with a team total of 365 led by an 89 from Ty Lancaster. Teammages Drew Lancaster, Nate Bingham and Connor Bell provided the additional scores for the team.
