SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police were investigating Tuesday whether the death of a man found in the middle of a street was drug-related.
About 4 a.m. a 34-year-old man was found in the road near 1180 E. Chandler Ave. (590 North). Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Salt Lake Police Lt. Dave Cracroft said detectives soon learned the man had been smoking meth with his girlfriend. The two reportedly were living in their car and had driven to that area to view city lights, he said.
The couple got into an argument and he walked out of the vehicle, Cracroft said. His girlfriend later found him in the street.
The man's name was not immediately released Tuesday.
Cracroft said the death was considered suspicious but believed to be the result of a drug overdose.
