The grand prize winner of the inaugural Film Your Faith video contest was announced Friday, Aug. 28, according to a press release.
Carlos Cuervo accepted the award for the winning video, "Without Walls," which highlights the work of Reforma XXI, a charitable organization in Miami, according to the YouTube description.
The contest, which was sponsored by Faith Counts, a nonprofit, nondenominational organization, attracted more than 140 entries from people of various faiths, according to MormonNewsroom.org. Participants were asked to showcase faith in a positive light.
Winners were chosen by a panel of judges, which included Elder Donald L. Hallstrom of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Sister Neill F. Marriott, second counselor in the Young Women general presidency.
Andreas Peterson, a man from Sandy, received an honorable mention for his animated film, "Metaphors of Faith." "Turn on Your Light," a video submitted by Utah Valley University student Austin Bagley, was voted the fan-favorite video on FaithCounts.com.
