BYU-Idaho bans 'man bun'

The Brigham Young University-Idaho Honor Office has started enforcing disciplinary action against those who wear their hair in a "man bun" in an effort to avoid extreme hairstyles.

The Brigham Young University-Idaho Honor Office has started enforcing disciplinary action against those who wear their hair in a "man bun," according to the BYU-Idaho Scroll.

According to the BYU-I Honor Code, hairstyles for men should be "clean and neat, avoiding extreme styles or colors, and trimmed above the collar leaving the ear uncovered."

Student Honor Administrator Tyler Barton said that all hairstyles that aren't in accordance with the honor code would receive the same disciplinary action.

“We would consider the ‘man bun’ to be an extreme hairstyle,” Barton said. “It’s just something that deviates from the norm.”
