After serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Czech Republic for 25 months, one young man surprised his mother, and her reaction was caught on film.
Elder Petersen returned Aug. 27, which just so happened to be the day after his mother's birthday, and was greeted by friends and some family members at the Salt Lake City International Airport while his mother, who had been told he would return Sept. 3, went to dinner with her husband. Upon returning from dinner, Elder Petersen's mother, Lori, was surprised to find friends and family waiting at her house to wish her a belated happy birthday.
After the group sang "Happy Birthday," Elder Petersen's father told his wife that they had one more present for her. Lori Petersen was then blindfolded while Elder Petersen made his way into the room. The blindfold was removed, and Lori Petersen was overjoyed to see her son.
The YouTube video was posted to Lori Petersen's YouTube channel on Aug. 31.
