"REMEMBER: Sacred Truths We Must Never Forget,” by Alonzo Gaskill, Cedar Fort, $18.99, 176 pages (nf)

“Remember: Sacred Truths We Must Never Forget” encourages the conscious and continued effort of always remembering. Author Alonzo Gaskill, a professor of LDS Church history and doctrine at Brigham Young University, organizes the book into four sections, inviting the reader to remember covenants and commandments, relationships, church service and living a godly life.

Gaskill uses life experiences, including his personal experiences prior to and after joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with quotes from present and past prophets and apostles of the LDS Church and scriptures to emphasize and teach these principles. Each of the sections is divided into more detailed applications, which are only a few pages long and allow for quick reading and more specific studying.

In the section on covenants and commandments, Gaskill invites readers to examine their personal lives, their relationship with Jesus Christ and the sacred nature of the sacrament. This section also includes sections about temple covenants and attending the temple.

In "Remember," Gaskill extends the invitation to build a life centered on Jesus Christ and encourages readers to remember these things.

An emphasis is constantly placed on being active in remembering certain principles, life events, scriptures or anything else that may draw a person closer to Christ. Gaskill reminds readers that patience, especially with oneself, is key to being successful at remembering and living a godly life.
