ST. GEORGE — A hiker found a woman's body Thursday near a trail in northwest St. George.
The body was found in a stream that runs next to Halfway Wash Trail around 1 p.m., said St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain. The woman was likely dead for a few days at the most when she was found.
No foul play was immediately suspected, according to Despain, but police were unsure Thursday exactly how the woman died.
"Hopefully we'll get some answers as to exactly what happened," he said. "We're checking with missing persons reports and doing what we can to identify who this victim is."
A medical examiner was called in to help St. George police with their investigation.
The woman's name wasn't immediately released.
