Three-year-old Ashley Pacheco’s sad story is often repeated with disastrous results: 5.9 million children under 5 die every year in our world from mostly preventable causes ("A child’s scraped knee a life or death matter in Venezuela," Oct. 4). Over 200 members of the House believe this should change and have co-sponsored the Reach Every Mother and Child Act; so have 25 senators. This legislation will efficiently work to end this tragedy of preventable deaths. The more calls and letters our representatives and senators receive from us on this lifesaving legislation, the more likely it is to pass. We can help make sure stories like Ashley Pacheco’s have happy endings.
