BYU added another Big Ten opponent to its future schedules, announcing Wednesday the Cougars will play Minnesota in a home-and-home series in 2020 and 2025.

BYU is scheduled to play Minnesota at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Sept. 26, 2020. It's the first time the two schools will play each other. The Golden Gophers return the favor by playing at BYU's LaVell Edwards Stadium on Sept. 20, 2025.

“We’re excited to announce this series with Minnesota,” BYU athletics director Tom Holmoe said in a statement. “We are always looking for opportunities to schedule storied football programs like Minnesota. It will be a great experience for our coaches, players and fans to visit Big Ten country and we look forward to hosting the Gophers at LaVell Edwards Stadium.”

The Cougars played at another Big Ten school, Michigan State, earlier this season and beat the Spartans 31-14. It was the third time BYU has played at a Big Ten venue in the past four years, including at Michigan in 2015 and at Wisconsin in 2013.

BYU has several Big Ten games on its future schedules. The Badgers are scheduled to play the Cougars in Provo next season and BYU will return to Camp Randall Stadium to face Wisconsin in 2018. Michigan State will play the Cougars in Provo in 2020.
