Salt Lake police searching for 15-year-old in connection with uncle's stabbing

SALT LAKE CITY — Police are searching for a 15-year-old boy Monday in connection with the stabbing of his 30-year-old uncle, police say.

The incident occurred about 11:15 a.m. at 821 W. Fremont Ave. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, according to Salt Lake police.

The man was stabbed with what was described as a "large knife," said Salt Lake police detective Cody Lougy. Information about what might have started the argument was not immediately available.

Police located an individual who they initially believed was the teen about 1:30 p.m. near 1300 South and 1200 West. The department confirmed Monday night the search for the teen was ongoing.

Initially, police said the teen and the victim were brothers, but they later updated the information, stating they are uncle and nephew.
