Dixie State swim: DSU sweeps event, wins at Arizona Christian dual meet

Dixie State’s women’s swimming team picked up wins in all 17 events against Arizona Christian in the first collegiate dual meet for both programs held this past Friday and Saturday in Phoenix. The Trailblazers won each of the 13 individual races and all four relay races, while 35 personal-best marks were either improved or set during the two-day meet.

Three DSU swimmers picked up two event wins apiece, with freshman Audrey Parrish winning the 100-yard fly (1:02.22) and 100 free (55.84), while freshman Abigail Graves swept both the 500 (5:25.24) and 1000 free (11:07.70) distance races and freshman Kayla Greer won the 200 back (2:13.92) and 200 IM (2:20.11).

In addition, seven more Trailblazers collected their first collegiate dual race wins, including sophomores McKenzie Fitzgerald (200 breast – 2:37.54), Phebe James (50 free – 24.91) and Anissa O’Connell (100 breast – 1:12.99), along with freshmen Megan Draney (200 free – 2:01.96), Grace Kroll (100 back – 1:01.28), Julia Sanderson (200 fly – 2:25.62) and Emilee Sichz (400 IM – 5:14.46).

Dixie State will close the 2016 calendar year at the Colorado Mesa Winter Invitational from Dec. 1-3, in Grand Junction, Colorado.
