Utah Valley University sophomore golfer Ana Raga has been invited to play for her native country of Venezuela at the 2016 Copa Los Andes South American Championships. The prestigious championship golf tournament will be contested Nov. 21-27, at the Lima Golf Club in Lima, Peru.

"This is a huge honor for Ana. We are so proud of her for being able to represent Team Venezuela at the Copa Los Andes," head UVU coach Dr. Sue Nyhus said. "She will do a great job of representing both her home country and Utah Valley University at the championship tournament."

Raga has been Utah Valley's top finisher in two of the team's four tournaments this fall, which includes a top-10 finish at the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout in September. The Wolverine sophomore also leads the team on the season with a 76.25 scoring average and has posted UVU's lowest individual score on the year by recording a 1-under-par 71 at Seattle U's Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in October.

The Caracas, Venezuela, native has posted a top-30 finish in all four of UVU's tournaments on the year, and her eighth-place finish at the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout marked the best finish of her collegiate career. Raga carded a 12-over-par 225 (76-75-74) at the event en route to recording her career-best three-round score.
