LOS ANGELES — The Utah women’s soccer team fell short against the USC Trojans Sunday afternoon at McAlister Field.
Leah Pruitt scored her fourth goal of the season to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead in the 73rd minute of the match, and USC made it stand.

Utah had five shots on goal but couldn’t get anything past USC goalkeeper Sammy Prudhomme. In the final minute, Utah’s Haylee Cacciacarne had a shot to potentially tie the score, but it took a bounce and Prudhomme eventually recorded another save.
Utah goalkeeper July Mathis had six saves in the loss. USC advances to the Elite 8 and will host the Auburn Tigers Friday.
