Mitt Romney has already received a vote for president.
Earlier this morning, the city of Dixville Notch, N.H., known for voting early on election day, collected its first votes of the 2016 campaign. Hillary Clinton won the bulk of the votes, four, while Donald Trump picked up two and Gary Johnson picked up one, according to Politico.
And one write-in ballot went to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Utahns have shown some interest in voting for Romney, a Mormon who helped rescue the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, this year. As CNN reported, searches in the state for “Mitt Romney write in” grew by 4000 percent back in mid-October.
But it’s not just Utahns. As The Washington Post reported, a new Bloomberg poll found that Republican Party nominee Romney would easily defeat Clinton, winning in a landslide.
The poll found Romney would defeat Clinton 50 to 40 percent.
Of course, previous polls found Romney’s reputation isn’t popular, either, The Washington Post reported. A poll back in March — around the time Romney denounced current GOP nominee Donald Trump — found that he had a 58 percent unfavorable rating across the nation compared to the 32 percent favorable rating.
Still, the recent Bloomberg poll may be a sign that Romney’s popularity would grow.
“This poll will surely lead a few Romney die-hards/NeverTrumpers to pine — or rather, continue pining — for a 2016 campaign in which Romney was the Clinton alternative rather than Trump,” according to The Post. “And perhaps Romney would really have done better than Trump. But when it comes to evidence that the American people are over the 2016 election, the idea that they would gladly hand the presidency to Romney right now speaks volumes.”
