Jeffrey D. Allred,

The AP and coaches polls were kind to the University of Utah football team this week, as it moved up three and four spots, respectively, despite having a bye.

The College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday evening weren't quite as nice, although the Utes did move up one spot, from No. 16 to No. 15.

Undefeated Washington, which beat Utah Oct. 29, moved into the top four this week after being somewhat controversially left out of it last week. The Huskies' jump from No. 5 was brought on by Texas A&M's loss to Mississippi State.

The Aggies dropped to No. 8.

In all, five Pac-12 teams are in the CFP rankings this week. In addition to Washington and Utah, Colorado is No. 12, USC is No. 20 and Washington State is No. 23.

The Utes and Buffaloes will square off in the regular-season finale Nov. 26 in Boulder, Colorado.

Alabama remained atop the rankings, while Clemson stayed at No. 2 and Michigan at No. 3.
